Whitish, brush-shaped flower heads grow in loose terminal clusters from July to October.  The plant has a disagreeable odor and taste.  The fruit, an achenium, is oblong and hairy.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhat resembles Sow thistle.<\/p>\n<p>Also called fireweed (E. angustifolium L.) of the Evening-primrose family. Said to be very effective against hemorrhoids.  In large doses it produces vomiting.<\/p>\n<p>Externally, used for muscular rheumatism, sciatica.<\/p>\n<p>The tincture of the fresh whole plant is used for diarrhea, gonorrhea, hemorrhage, metrorrhagia, and orchitis (inflammation of the testes).<br \/>\n<a href=\"#top\"><font size=\"-1\">Back to Top<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<hr size=3 width=80% COLOR=\"#004040\" align=\"center\">\n<h3><a name=\"Dosages\">Formulas or Dosages<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Infusion:<\/strong> steep 1 heaping tsp. of the plant in 1 cup boiling water for 30 minutes.
