Tamarindus indica, commonly known as tamarind, has been evaluated as a feed supplement in aquaculture, notably for species such as Cyprinus carpio (common carp) fingerlings. The plant is noted in traditional contexts for antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties, and it contains bioactive compounds including tannins and flavonoids. Studies examining the inclusion of Tamarindus indica in fish diets have reported improvements in growth performance, characterized by higher weight gain, increased growth rates, and more efficient feed conversion ratios.
